Major Jewish interstate men’s and women’s golf tournaments have been set in the Maccabi calendar for upcoming months.

The third annual Maccabi golf Queens Cup women’s tournament – between six-member NSW and Victorian teams – will take place in NSW’s Hunter Valley from October 30 to November 2.

The much-anticipated event, hosted this time by Maccabi NSW Golf, returns after an absence of three years, due to COVID-related restrictions.

The NSW women will aim to defend their unbeaten record, having won the title in 2018 and 2019.

While highly competitive, the event is foremost about fair play, camaraderie, and forming new friendships.

It will be played at the Hunter Valley Crowne Plaza, Cypress Lakes, and the Vintage golf courses.

In men’s golf, after Maccabi Western Australia Golf had to miss out on participating throughout the pandemic, it will host the 21st annual Maccabi Golf Presidents Cup, at Perth’s the Vines Resort, from February 23-26, 2023.

The defending champions, NSW, defeated the only other team, Victoria, at 13th Beach Resort in the 2022 event played earlier this year.

Some 36 golfers, representing Maccabi NSW, Victoria and Western Australia, will compete for the trophy in its 21st edition.

Maccabi NSW Golf president David Felthun and his committee have their state championships on November 3 at Monash Golf Club, to assist with NSW team selection.

Maccabi Victoria Golf has two events left in 2022, after which the Victorian team will be announced.

For Maccabi WA Golf, preparation as tournament hosts is under way, and a WA squad will soon be picked.

For a smaller state, WA has done well with six Presidents Cup wins, NSW has won 10 times, and Victoria four times.

The format for the three-day tournament sees 12 golfers from each state team competing in a day each of four-ball match play, four-ball Stableford aggregate, and individual match play, all following an initial day of practice, and a presidents dinner.
