JEWISH leaders have praised Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews after he announced he is stepping down from the job after nine years as Premier and 14 years as Victorian ALP leader.

Jewish Community Council of Victoria president Daniel Aghion stated, “Daniel Andrews has been a strong and consistent supporter of the Victorian Jewish community and of Israel throughout his time as Leader of the Opposition and then through his nine years as Premier.”

Zionism Victoria president Yossi Goldfarb noted “From opening a Victorian Trade Office in Tel Aviv to adopting the IHRA Definition of Antisemitism, and from declaring his opposition to the ALP Conference’s push for Palestinian statehood to the deeply heartfelt addresses he always gave at Zionism Victoria’s annual Yom Ha’atzmaut reception, Daniel Andrews has been a steadfast friend of Israel and an unwavering supporter of the Zionist and Jewish community.”
