Jewish Life – the Heart of our School
With tailored Jewish Life programs, students at Leibler Yavneh College live and breathe judaism.
The Jewish Life department at Leibler Yavneh College emphasises what students live and breathe on a daily basis, both in and out of the classroom. Programs in this department are tailored from Prep to Year 12, taking place in the classroom and through lunchtime and afterschool clubs. The Jewish Life team create ‘ruach’ or spirit in the school whilst forging a connection between the students to their Jewish identity and to Israel.
The Jewish Life team offers a plethora of options to suit a diverse range of students, ensuring there are always different avenues for connection, aiming to provide a holistic education for students. From celebrating Yom Ha’atzmaut and Yom Yerushalayim through song and dance, lunchtime and afterschool clubs through to the thought-provoking and engaging programming which encourages students to focus on self-growth and connectedness to those around us.
Currently, Year 6 students participate in a personal development program ‘ME’ during their Bnei Mtzvah years through to Year 7, encouraging self-growth in preparation for their bar mitzvahs and bat mitzvahs. Building on this notion of self-refinement, Year 8 students participate in the ‘US’ Program, which focuses on in-reach and connectedness to the community and their peers. The Year 9 ‘YOU’ Program then reorients the focus towards outreach, forming a basis of the Community Service Program at Yavneh, providing tzedakah opportunities that aim to inspire students’ thirst for giving.
These values are then encapsulated in the Year 10 Manhigut Program, where students have the opportunity to partake in robust workshops that focus intensively on the key skills of leadership.
These programs offered through Yavneh’s Jewish Life department equip students to make a positive impact on the world and those around them.
