Jewish school in Melbourne targeted with ‘Free Palestine’
Anti-Defamation Commission: "To attack a Jewish institution in order to express a hatred against Israel is antisemitic."
PARENTS dropping their kids to school noticed the words “Free Palestine” daubed along the driveway of an ultra-orthodox Jewish school in Melbourne this morning.
The AJN understands the graffiti was discovered outside Cheder Levi Yitzchok on Chapel St, St Kilda early on Friday morning.
The Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC) has contacted The City of Port Phillip council and Victoria Police. Graffiti removal teams were being sent to the school to remove the vandalism.
ADC chair Dvir Abramovich told The AJN on Friday morning, “To attack a Jewish institution in order to express a hatred against Israel is antisemitic, and these activists have torn up the rule book of decency and are now targeting Jewish schools with their vicious propaganda and calls to destroy Israel.
“Their desire to intimidate and sow fear knows no bounds. To defile a place where children play and learn is beyond words and beyond contempt and it is not a surprise that parents would be very concerned about the safety of their children. This is not what Australia is about.”
He added, “I hope that those cowards who committed this sickening outrage are identified and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000.
