It’s been a fortnight of high achievement in representative school athletics by students from Jewish schools.

At the CIS Athletics Championships on September 19, Emanuel School’s open boys’ 4×100 relay team of Aden Goodridge, Jett Sher, Shai Farhy, and Zac Urbach won gold by setting a new meet record of 43.72 seconds.

Urbach won two more golds, setting a meet record in the 18-19 boys’ 200m of 21.70 seconds, and a PB of 10.84 seconds in the 100m.

Goodridge also won two more golds, in the 18-19 boys’ long jump and 400m, and Emanuel teammate Elex Kirievsky, 16, won silver in discus and bronze in shot put.

Moriah College’s Tali Baltineshter won gold with a throw of 41.72m in the 17 girls’ javelin, and teammates Demi Katz and Joseph Rabinowitz won silvers in the 16 girls’ triple jump (PB of 11.03m) and 18-19 boys’ 200m (PB of 22.41) respectively, while Masada College’s Ziv Danieli placed sixth in the 12-13 boys’ triple jump.

Then at the NSW All Schools Championships last weekend, Urbach set a new 100m PB of 10.83 in the U19 boys’ 100m heats, and crossed the finish line first in the final in 10.84.

Emanuel’s Eden Levit won silver in the U19 girls’ 100m (12.76) and bronze in the 200m (26.15).

Moriah’s Baltineshter won the 17 girls’ javelin gold medal with a throw of 43.97, winning by a margin of just 19cm.
