Pop singer Micah Diamond has released her first single Wanna Not Want Ya on streaming platforms, with a music video that highlights Diamond’s incredible dancing skills. She recently launched her debut single at DJ Jazzy’s Fashion Meets Music.

The 16-year-old Moriah College student described the release of the single as the culmination of years of training in singing and dance.

Speaking to The AJN, Diamond said it has been her goal to be a professional performer since she was a little girl, “I’ve been singing and dancing my whole life.

“My dream was like Tate McRae, Ariana Grande, but I wanted to create something of my own.

“So, I started songwriting … and when the song came out, I was like, this is what I have done it all for.”

Diamond has been developing her musical talents since she was four. She underwent intensive training at Brent Street Performing Arts in jazz, musical theatre, contemporary, tap, hip hop, and ballet.

She attended Radix’s international dance convention in Las Vegas and trained at Broadway Dance Centre in New York to refine her skills. Her dancing talent has been recognised with national titles and awards at Dance Life Unite, KAR, Get the Beat, and Talent Tribe. She also teaches dance to younger students at Moriah College.

Under the guidance of musical mentors Dianne Regan and DJ Jazzy, Diamond continues to evolve as an artist. Her debut single Wanna Not Want Ya was written by Diamond in collaboration with DJ Jazzy. As to the inspiration for her song, Diamond said, “It’s about wanting someone that you shouldn’t want … It’s quite relatable, we’ve all had something or someone that we wanted to not want but you just couldn’t help it.”
