About the role
Polaris Media (publisher of The Australian Jewish News & Property Weekly) is looking to elevate our digital presence and relevant digital content, while maintaining the high quality of journalism and community engagement that we have built our reputation on over the last 125 years.
We are seeking a passionate and resourceful entry-level journalist (Level 1 or Cadet, based on training and experience) to be part of our multi-platform publication, writing and producing content for our newspapers, magazines, website and social media channels.
We want a news-breaker and a self-starter, able to write articles and create digital content to tight deadlines.
Our ideal candidate should have an interest in hard news, politics and community matters, while also possessing the flexibility to work across our arts and lifestyle beats. A background / qualification in journalism will be highly regarded.
Main job responsibilities
- Produce insightful digital and print content to enhance the Australian Jewish News’ offering to the community and clients – in the form of print and web articles, social media posts, on/off-camera interviews, etc.
- Write and produce weekly news stories, focussing on Australia’s vibrant Jewish community.
- Produce engaging digital and written content for the Australian Jewish News and Polaris Media’s suite of magazines and special projects.
- Work to the Australian Jewish News’ Calendar of Magazines and Special projects and meet deadlines for both digital and print publications.
- Provide insight and best-practice solutions to build a younger following and maintain regular engagement with the vibrant local Jewish communities.
