Caulfield Shule recently had the privilege of hosting the Hindu Council of Australia (HCA) and hearing from its president, Sai Paravastu.

HCA was founded in 1998 with an aim to create a strong and unified Hindu community in Australia, aiming to live in harmony with other religious and cultural communities while also devoted to preserving, promoting and sharing Hindu faith, culture and traditions.

Rabbi Rabin said, “In a time when both our communities are facing rising challenges … we came together to reaffirm the importance of solidarity and interfaith harmony.”

Paravastu spoke about the deep similarities between Judaism and Hinduism, ways of life centred around family, tradition and righteousness.

He expressed the support of the Hindu community for the Jewish people, saying, “The Hindu community stands in unwavering solidarity with our Jewish brothers and sisters.”

Rabbi Rabin said, “The Jewish and Hindu communities share a long history of mutual respect, and we stand together against hatred in all its forms.”
