Junior carnivals set for Sydney and Melbourne

EACH January is when Maccabi legends are born, lifelong friendships are made, and Jewish children reconnect through sport and social activities at the annual Junior Carnival.

The 40th chapter of this annual event will be held separately in Sydney and Melbourne as a ‘Carnival@Home’, and both have jam-packed programs to start getting excited about.

And registrations are now open.

THE SYDNEY CARNIVAL@HOME

The Sydney event will be four days of sport, friendship, and good times from January 18-21, for Jewish boys and girls aged 12 to 15.

Sports range from netball and football to tennis, basketball and more. There will be a disco party, a games night, a trip to Aqua Park, and more activities to be revealed soon.

Maccabi NSW’s new general manager Ori Daniel said, “Our team has been working hard behind the scenes to make this carnival one to remember”.

“The program gives participants the opportunity to embrace their love of sport and try new things, while also creating friendships to last a lifetime.”

Thanks to a generous donation by the JCA Millie Phillips Jewish Education Fund, the registration fee will only be $350 per participant.

However, there’s an ‘early bird’ rate of $320 for registrations before December 1.

Discounts are also available for siblings.

Sydney Carnival@Home manager Tracy Chorev said, “I’ve had my eldest children participate in previous carnivals, and they absolutely loved it.”

With COVID-19 safety restrictions, there are limited spots available, so its best to register soon.

THE MELBOURNE JUNIOR ‘CARNVAL@HOME’

From January 17-21, Maccabi Victoria will host a fun-filled five-day ‘Carnival@Home’, just for Victorian boys and girls who are about to start years 7,8,9 and 10.

Children aged 16 and over must be fully vaccinated to participate.
The sports program includes basketball, cricket, volleyball/catchball, netball, futsal, table tennis, football, tennis, and ultimate frisbee.

And social events will be held each night.

For peace of mind, Maccabi Victoria is offering a 100% money back guarantee if the event does not proceed due to Covid-related restrictions or lockdowns being reintroduced in greater Melbourne.
