JUNIOR gymnast Sasha Kiroi is making a name for herself on the world stage, recently starring at her first international event in Spain, before winning four gold medals at the Australian Gymnastics Championships in Sydney.

Kiroi, who in year 6 at The King David School, competed against more than 300 gymnasts from over 15 countries in the Spanish town of Lloret de Mar, where she was able to topple some of the best participants from across the globe to take out the rhythmic gymnastic event in her age group.

Her performance was so impressive that she was asked to return to the floor for the gala event.

Kiroi then went on to pick up four gold medals – the majority of Victoria’s six in the rhythmic gymnastics division – and one silver at the national championships, concluding her stellar year in the Level 7 International competition.

The young gun’s success has earned her a spot on Australia’s national team, which is currently preparing for several international tournaments.

Kiroi, who was nominated for the Gymnastics Victoria’s International Stream Gymnast of the Year award last year, is also set to spend more than three weeks in Bulgaria with top-level Russian coaches who have Olympic and World Championship experience, which is the first step towards a big year ahead in the Level 8 International division in 2014.
