Likely a publicity stunt

Kanye West to apologise for antisemitism

Given the video coincides with Ye's album release many are sceptical it is a genuine apology, considering it is more likely a publicity stunt or an attempt to rebrand.

Rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, plans to apologise for his antisemitic remarks in a 40-minute video which could be released ahead of the launch of his new album Vultures out on February 9, TMZ reported.

Given the video coincides with Ye’s album release many are sceptical it is a genuine apology, considering it is more likely a publicity stunt or an attempt to rebrand.

Ye posted an apology in Hebrew on Instagram on December 26, a translation stated, “I sincerely apologise to the Jewish community for any unintended outburst caused by my words or actions,” adding, “It was not my intention to offend or demean, and I deeply regret any pain I may have caused.”

The post followed another antisemitic outburst on December 15 at a Las Vegas event where Ye was filmed ranting that the Zionists and the Rothschilds control schools and hospitals.

In 2022, Ye made a number of antisemitic comments, including that he wished to go “death con 3” on Jews, as well as praising Hitler.

Following his remarks, many sponsors including Adidas and Gap dropped their contracts with the rapper costing him millions.
