Leading musicians team up for IPO gala
The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra Global Gala will raise funds to ensure the orchestra’s future, while showcasing musical excellence and bringing a message of peace and harmony.
LEGENDARY violinist Itzhak Perlman joins a star-studded line-up of musicians in support of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO) to raise money through an online fundraising gala event on the weekend.
Following the cancellation of many of the IPO’s performances and fundraising events throughout the world due to COVID-19, the IPO Global Gala will raise funds to ensure the orchestra’s future, while showcasing musical excellence and bringing a message of peace and harmony.
The gala, organised by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra Foundation, features acclaimed musicians including Pinchas Zukerman, Yefim Bronfman, Sir Andras Schiff and Gil Shaham.
It will be hosted by British Oscar-winning actress, Dame Helen Mirren, and includes videos from Maestro Zubin Mehta, the Indian-born conductor who retired last year after 50 years with the IPO, and Israeli conductor Lahav Shani, who took over as IPO music director earlier this year.
The IPO Global Gala will be streamed free on the Medici TV website on June 28 at 9pm (Israel time) and can be viewed online until July 28. For more information, including how to receive a link to the event, visit ipo.co.il.
