ACROSS a barren, flat field, Israel and Lebanon faced off on Sunday (March 22).

The siren blew, the ball was bounced and the battle began as part of the Australian Rules Harmony Cup in Melbourne, an event that coincided with Harmony Day.

The Israeli team was made up of local Jewish footballers, and battled with other teams of migrants and their descendants from Lebanon, Greece, Italy, India and others.

For the record, the Lebanese team edged home over the blue and white by just two goals, and then went on to win the final.
