Light relief is on its way
Kaye will be returning to her home city to perform her show, Anything 4 a Laugh, at Mizrachi Synagogue on Saturday, July 6, from 7.30pm.
Comedian Deb Kaye was born and raised in Sydney before moving to Israel 28 years ago.
Kaye is a latecomer to the world of making people laugh, as she turned 50 when doing her first comedy gig.
Making up for lost time, she has since toured American and Canada and performed all around Israel.
The good news for Sydneysiders is that Kaye will be returning to her home city to perform her show, Anything 4 a Laugh, at Mizrachi Synagogue on Saturday, July 6, from 7.30pm.
Kaye does stand-up comedy and likes to generate laughs by laughing at herself and sharing hilarious stories about how she has adapted to all aspects of Israeli life and society since making aliyah.
“I do a fair bit of ad-libbing, but I basically cover Israel and my struggles there, negotiating Jewish laws and share things that my family and I find hilarious,” Kaye, who is performing in Melbourne tonight (Thursday), said, adding she loves talking with audience members too.
“My plan is to try to be semi-well-behaved, but I often will go in with a plan and then change it, depending on how people respond to certain things.”
Rabbi Shua Solomon said, “We are excited about welcoming back a Sydneysider to our shule and we look forward to some comic relief and lots of laughter for our community.”
Kaye’s show will also be a fundraiser for the shule, which plans to buy artwork from Israel to decorate its interior.
