THE winners of the 2021 Caulfield Volunteer Awards received their honours at a special presentation evening last week hosted by Member for Caulfield David Southwick.

The awards were made in partnership with Community Bank Caulfield Park. This year seven of the 10 winners were connected to the Jewish community.

“Our community can be very proud of these outstanding members,” said Southwick.

“I hope to showcase some of these special people and share their stories over coming weeks.”

Members of the community and Jewish organisations who were honoured for their outstanding efforts were FoodFilled’s Benjamin Michelson, Community Security Group, C Care’s Jackie Somerville, B’nai B’rith Victoria Jewish Youth Art Competition’s Mark Rubinstein, Jewish Care and Emmy Monash’s Martin Israel, The Jewish Holocaust Centre’s Ruth Mushin and the Jewish Children’s Aid Society’s Shirley Kayser.

Southwick thanked each recipient for “showcasing volunteerism at its best, contributing to the community and providing inspiration to others,” adding, “you make Caulfield and surrounds such a wonderful place to live.”
