Maccabi-AJAX batters shine in round three
MACCABI-AJAX’s men’s A grade team bounced back from a round two Mercantile Cricket Association loss to last season’s premiers Melbourne Cobras by thrashing Sunrise in round three last Sunday.
They scored 6/228 with the bat before bowling out Sunrise for just 49.
Brad Majtlis top-scored for Maccabi with 112 runs off 81 balls, and Lior Meyerowitz was the pick of the bowlers taking 4/13.
Maccabi-AJAX lost its round three games in B, C South, and C development grades, to the Melbourne Ramblers, Burnley and Thornbury respectively.
A highlight for Maccabi-AJAX in its 4-wicket loss to Thornbury was brilliant batting by two legends of the club.
Simeon Goldenberg scored 40 runs before being caught, and Allen Sheffield finished unbeaten on 62 runs off 31 balls.
