Maccabi-AJAX Junior Cricket Club is approaching the ISEC season finals series with confidence, with 6 out of its 8 boys’ teams from U13s to U17s sitting in the top 4, with one round to go.

The club’s U17s team is leading the highly competitive Stephen Zayler Shield.

Led by captain Brett Jacobs this team features Ben Casper and Nadav Lowinger – who are in the competition’s top 5 batters’ list – while Lowinger, and teammates Lior Meyerowitz and Devon Melzak, have taken 9 wickets each.

The U17s, plus the U15A team, are producing a steady flow of talent for the senior club, with some players getting the opportunity to play both junior and men’s matches each Sunday.

The Maccabi-AJAX U15A team is set to finish 3rd on their 11-team ladder, guaranteeing a finals spot, and the U13 Colts are coming first in the new Howard Machlin Shield.

Zac Berley has shown tremendous improvement in his second season in U13s, topping the league batting tables with 247 runs scored to date.

In girls’ cricket, Gigi Goldman leads the way for Maccabi-AJAX, with an incredible 18 wickets, and Aria Friedman has taken 10.

With more girls joining the club, and its two teams starting to gel, the future looks bright.
