MACCABI Northside and Maccabi Hakoah football clubs went head-to-head recently in the annual JCA Cup at Moore Park, with the former edging out its eastern rival.

Maccabi Northside won three of the five games, including a 4-2 win for its under-16 A side over Maccabi Hakoah’s under-16 B; a 3-1 win for the club’s under-14 team against the Maccabi Hakoah under-13 team; and a 5-4 victory for its All Age (AA)5 side over Maccabi Hakoah’s AA10 team.

The club from the east picked up the other two wins with a 1-0 victory for the over-35s against Northside’s over-45s, while the AA3 side defeated the equivalent team from the north 3-1.

Hakoah also showed off its new under-21 team (pictured) for the first time, which took on the Fed’s quality under-18 outfit.

The game was locked at 2-2 late in the second period, before the Fed team ran away with the match, eventually getting up 4-2.

The Hakoah under-21 team will play in the Eastern Suburbs Football Association All Age league.

The basketball and netball clubs from the east and the north will do battle later in the year.
