A FUN-FILLED yet competitive Women’s Football “Carnival of Nations” knockout competition kicked off on November 28 on Darebin’s new synthetic field, featuring 20 Victorian clubs, including Maccabi FC (Caulfield), which is representing Israel.

The Maccabi women beat Melbourne University (Ireland) 4-1 first-up, with Rachel Kochen scoring a hat-trick, and Charlotte Quinton one goal.

Then they beat Darebin United (Japan) 7-0, with Maccabi’s new goalkeeper Anthea Devitsakis keeping a clean sheet in a confident performance.

This Sunday, they will take on a team representing Australia in the tournament’s semi-finals.

Maccabi women’s head coach Adam Steele said, “The team has developed a long way. We have some new players who have come in and worked hard from the first training session, and we are building towards a great 2022 season.”
