Maccabi-Hakoah ready for Easts season
Players of all ages at Maccabi-Hakoah FC – but particularly the kids – are feeling excited about this weekend’s opening round of Sydney’s 2022 Eastern Suburbs Football Association (ESFA) season.
Daniel Zaidel, president of Maccabi-Hakoah Junior Football Club, said, “As a club, we have worked very hard to get kids on the field as much as possible during the preseason, with extra sessions added on recent weekends to ensure players have been able to get ready, and that teams can get settled.
“We have had a lot of returning players, and we’re very excited to have a lot of newcomers too.
“We’ve eclipsed last year’s player numbers, with close to 400 boys and girls signed up, across all age groups, and we have entered 26 teams into ESFA junior competitions this year.”
Zaidel added that there has been a big intake at Maccabi-Hakoah in its youngest age groups “particularly in U8s to U10s, where the year groups have at least four teams each”.
“And our exciting new addition to the club has been the Maccabi Minis, for boys and girls aged 3 to 5.
“They’ve been training on Sundays this term, and are loving their introduction into football – the kids, their parents, and the coaches, are certainly having a great time with this new initiative, which will set solid foundations for the future.”
There are still some places available in the Maccabi Minis program for upcoming terms.
The junior club’s girls’ teams will start their competitions in great shape, having just participated in a combined ESFA/Sydney FC girls’ gala day, where they got to see Sydney FC women’s team’s premiership plate.
Their teams all had solid performances – especially the U10 team, whose player Amber Isaacs was awarded Most Valuable Player honours on the day.
In men’s football this ESFA season, Maccabi-Hakoah is fielding two division 1 teams, and one team each in division 2, 3 and over-45s.
