Maccabi NSW swimmers go great at state

MACCABI NSW Swimming Club were well-represented at the NSW Senior State Age Championships held at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre from January 20-25.

Being up against the state’s best swimmers, including some Australian extended squad members, was an exciting experience for the Maccabi boys and girls, who are aged between 13 and 17.

In boys’ events, Cody Davis came 27th in the 15 years 200 breaststroke, Joe Hewins came 31st in the 15 years 200 backstroke, 29th place was achieved in the 13-15 4×50 free relay by Hewins, Davis, Jonathan Levy, and Sam Kaplan, and 31st in the in the 4×50 medley relay.

Maccabi’s girls impressed in the pool. In the individual events, Tamryn Schubert had three top-25 finishes, the highest being 17th in the 16 girls’ 200 backstroke.

Elodie Jewell came 16th in the 14 girls’ 200 backstroke, and Savanna Goldring finished 11th in the 15 girls’ 200 breaststroke, and 15th in the 100 breaststroke.

In girls’ relay events, Maccabi best result was 33rd in the 12-16 4×50 freestyle, by its team of Schubert, Goldring, Jenna Marks, and Anna Sarakinsky.
