Maimon wishes Aussie team well for Maccabiah

Following recent official Maccabiah Games Australian delegation farewell receptions held at Maccabi Western Australia headquarters, and at Victoria’s Government House, it was Sydney’s turn at NSW Government House on Sunday, June 26.
While Governor Margaret Beazley was overseas, a contingent of 16 junior Australian athletes and 50 delegation volunteers were warmly welcomed on her behalf by Chief Justice of NSW Andrew Bell.
Israeli ambassador to Australia Amir Maimon urged the Aussies to enjoy not just competing, but more importantly, the spirit and camaraderie of the Maccabiah Games.
Earlier at the Melbourne reception, Victorian Governor Linda Dessau gave the official Aussie green and gold uniforms a big thumbs up, and met the Australia’s women’s hockey team, and some junior athletes from a range of sports.
At the Perth reception, team members were wished well by guest speaker, former Perth Wildcats star Andrew Vlahov.
The Australian delegation departs for Israel on July 7 for a pre-Games camp.
