A 29-year-old man has been charged in relation to a brawl during the recent protest at Bondi Beach, where anti-Israel protesters were outnumbered by about five to one.

The clash occurred when pro-Palestinian activists descended on the beach for an unauthorised rally on Father’s Day, while thousands of members of the Jewish community responded with a unified counter-protest on the steps and promenade.

Police were called to the scene at 8am when a scuffle broke out between the protesters. Officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command were supported by the Public Order and Riot Squad, Operation Odin and the Central Metropolitan Region High Visibility Patrol to keep order.

No arrests were made at the time, but last week investigators released images of three men they believed could assist with enquiries into the incident.

On Friday, detectives then arrested a 29-year-old man at a home in Edmondson Park. He was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with affray and common assault. He was granted conditional bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court on October 9, where he will face charges relating to his alleged involvement in the altercation.
