THE Maccabi NSW All Abilities ‘Educate Through Experience’ program’s series of activity-based inclusivity workshops is enabling more than 400 Jewish students to find greater compassion and understanding for the importance of inclusion, through sport.

The program – supported by JCA’s The Choice Foundation – headed to Masada College earlier this month for a day of fun in the sun, an informative talk by a NSW Wheelchair Sports champion, and the opportunity to learn about wheelchair basketball and rugby, and have a go at playing a friendly game themselves.

Feedback from the students was overwhelmingly positive, with one saying, “It was amazing to learn the aspects of teamwork in wheelchair sports, and the skills that we did today, and just to hear insights from people with disabilities and how they can adapt to change.”

Another student commented, “We were able to see things through the eyes of somebody who has been using a wheelchair all their lives, and I think it’s amazing that we have so many sports now that everybody is able to do.”
