LEADING international florist Nicole Bishops Whiteman knows that between flowers, chuppahs, table decorations and food, planning a simcha can be a real minefield.
So taking inspiration from hugely successful Jewish wedding expos in London, she has created Meet the Experts!, an evening of advice and ideas for people planning Jewish functions.
“We wanted to do something like that and we thought this would be a little more upmarket,” she said of the event, which is being staged next month at Encore St Kilda. “Nothing like this has been done before.”
Brides, grooms and parents-in-law to be will have the opportunity to hear from a panel including Bishops Whiteman, top Australian event planner Gina Samuels, Jack Joseph from caterers Kosher Classique, and entertainment and production expert Brad Hampel.
Each will give a short speech about their area of expertise before answering questions from the audience. There will also be a light supper and an opportunity for guests to browse an exhibition including flowers, table centre pieces, entertainment equipment and chuppahs.
Audience members will also receive a free gift bag.
“A lot of people who are planning weddings in the summer are looking for people now in the low season,” said Bishops Whiteman.
“Depending on the success of the evening, we are definitely hoping to roll it out – maybe holding an event like this twice a year,” she said.
The event is sponsored by Bud, Kosher Classique, Solution Entertainment, The Production House and The AJN.
