After seeing the amazing impact of Maccabi NSW’s Mega Camp in April, the team at Maccabi Victoria decided to plan and host their first one in the winter school holidays for Jewish kids in Melbourne in years 3 to 6, and what a camp it turned out to be.

Maccabi Victoria general manager Shari Cohen said, “We watched all the kids grow, make friends, and shine on the court.

“The look of pride on their faces as they mastered new skills was the absolute highlight.”

Each day from June 26-29 at The King David School, special accolades were awarded – the Spirit of Maccabi Award celebrating exemplary sportsmanship, the Talent Award recognising high proficiency in skills, and the Coaches’ Award saluting continued effort and willingness to learn.

The camp’s program fostered teamwork and camaraderie among participants, and all activities were designed to be inclusive.

In the words of one of the coaches, “What a blast we had at Mega Camp … the fun, laughter, teamwork and the buckets of energy from the kids were awesome.”

Cohen thanked all who made it possible.

“The passion and dedication of our participants, parents, coaches and volunteers were the true driving force,” she said.

Maccabi Victoria will be running another Mega Camp in the September school holidays.
