NSW Minister for Multiculturalism Mark Coure has sent a message to the Jewish community for Yom Hashoah.

In a statement released on Thursday, Coure said, “This Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, we reflect on the millions of lives lost during a genocide that has left a profoundly dark mark on world history.

“Yom Hashoah reminds us of the importance of learning from the events of the past—a painful reminder of the evils inflicted at the hands of unbridled tyranny.

“Many people have found safe haven on our shores in NSW over the years, particularly after the horrors of World War II and the Holocaust. In doing so, they have been empowered to create a community where they feel safe and where their cultures, religions, and languages can flourish.

“On Yom Hashoah, we remember the darkness that once consumed our world, we honour the individual stories of those who were exiled and executed and we say ‘never again’.”
