Maccabi Lakers must lift to make finals
Two-thirds into the first City of Sydney Basketball men’s premier league season in 2022, the Maccabi Lakers find themselves with some work cut out for them.
They are currently coming sixth out of 10, yet remain only four points outside of the top four.
Their top pointscorer, Marcel Ninio, is averaging an impressive 26.25 points per game.
Meanwhile, in the 11-team men’s Division 1 competition, the Maccabi Kings are seventh, three points behind fourth spot, while the Maccabi Rockets haven’t yet fired, and are struggling in 10th place.
Three rounds remain in both competitions.

Aston strikes form
After the first five completed rounds of the opening Maccabi Tenpin Bowling 2022 Monday night season at Manhattan Bowl, team Two Can Tango (Michael Horowitz and Tomer Aston) lead the 18-team ladder on 37 points, following their nine-point win over Blue Heelers.
Aston was the star again, scoring 141 and 133 in his two games.
The Oldies (Patricia Levy and Raymond Meinrath) have climbed to second spot on 34 points after a perfect 10-0 victory over Rolling Stones, in which their consistently solid bowling earned them bonus points.
Highland Warriors (Howard Silver and Peter Jablonka) moved up to third, on 29.4 points, with a close 7-4 win over Swannies.
Jablonka bowled a great last two games of 180 and 216, scoring 13 and 49 over his average.
For the Swannies, who are in eighth place, Justin Kennedy top-scored with 207, and Ronnie Lang’s best game on the night was an outstanding 211.
