Jewish Melburnian Jemima Montag, who won gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and came sixth in her debut Olympics in Tokyo, posted the fastest Australian season-opening time of 43 minutes and 5.7 seconds at last Saturday’s Supernova meet at the AIS in Canberra.

In doing so, she already qualified for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, to be held in Birmingham, England in just over six months’ time.

“I got myself into flow state and truly enjoyed most of it,” Montag wrote on Instagram.

“Next focus: defend that gold in August.”

Well done Jemima!
