Bruce Munro’s new installation to light up Mildura

ACCLAIMED artist Bruce Munro, whose large-scale Field of Light installation at Uluru has delighted thousands of visitors since opening in 2016, is set to unveil a new light display in Mildura in April.

The new installation, Trail of Lights, is an artistic spectacle that seamlessly integrates 12,500 firefly lights with the natural beauty of Lock Island in Mildura.

As the sun sets, the banks of the Murray River will be transformed into a tranquil dreamscape.

Trail of Lights opens on April 4 and is expected to run for two years and is expected to attract thousands of visitors.

“Trail of Lights is about creating a moment of stillness and contemplation in an extraordinary natural setting,” explained Munro.

“The Murray River provides the perfect canvas for light and landscape to interact in a way that is both evocative and deeply personal.”

Mildura Mayor Helen Healy said Trail of Lights would have a transformative impact on Mildura’s tourism landscape.

“This breathtaking installation will not only captivate visitors but also showcase the natural beauty of the Murray River in a truly unique way,” she said.

British-based artist Munro has created more than 45 large-scale installations worldwide exploring themes of wonder, connection and the human experience.

Uluru’s Field of Light installation underwent a major refurbishment last year and has been extended into 2027.

The Eve hotel in Redfern’s Wunderlich Lane lifestyle precinct.

Sydney’s newest hotel opens in Redfern

THE Eve Hotel Sydney opened earlier this month in Redfern’s Wunderlich Lane lifestyle precinct surrounded by boutique food, health, beauty and wellness outlets.

The hotel, managed by TFE hotels, was designed by a creative team led by SJB’s Adam Haddow, 360 Degrees’ Daniel Baffsky, and George Livissianis.

A distinctive touch is provided by artworks featured throughout the hotel, including works by Australian artists Louise Olsen and Tarryn Gill.

General Manager Ben Mellor said the hotel offered guests a distinctive Sydney-inspired experience with sophisticated design and personalised service.

The Eve is in Baptist Street, Redfern and offers a variety of rooms – some with balconies and terraces – plus the larger sunset suite.

Lunch and dinner is served in the Lottie restaurant while Bar Julius offers breakfast and all-day dining.

A major talking point is the hotel’s rooftop garden with a 20-metre pool, open from 7am to 10pm daily, which transforms from a morning swim spot to a vibrant afternoon and evening retreat.
