Nominations sought for Hall of Fame
Maccabi Victoria Hall of Fame nominations open to recognise athletes, coaches and community contributors.
Nominations for the Maccabi Victoria Hall of Fame are now open and the community is encouraged to put names forward.
“The important point is that it’s not limited to elite athletes. It could be a coach, an administrator, or someone who has quietly given years to a club and the people in it. Often, the people most deserving of recognition are the least likely to seek it. If someone comes to mind, take the time to nominate them,” Maccabi Victoria stated.
When Jemima Montag competed in Paris, it was the result of everything that came before it. Jemima grew up in Maccabi. Her parents met through Maccabi, and her early years in athletics were shaped at the Maccabi Athletics Club.
From there, she has gone on to build an career at the highest level, supported by national programs, coaches and high-performance environments. Commonwealth Games gold, World Championship podiums, Olympic finals. In Paris, she claimed bronze in the mixed marathon race walk relay alongside Rhydian Cowley. In the final 10km leg, she moved Australia from fourth into third, recording the fastest split of all women in the field.
Jemima is still a familiar face at Maccabi. She’s been back at the Athletics Open Day, spent time with younger athletes, and spoken at community events. She’s also involved in initiatives like Girls Play On, focused on keeping girls engaged in sport.
