Grant McCorquodale is “delighted and honoured” to have been voted in as the new president of Emanuel Synagogue.

McCorquodale has held a broad range of communal roles, including president of the Emanuel School board for six years, a member on the NSW Jewish Board of Governors and, more recently, two years of service on Emanuel Synagogue’s board.

“Emanuel Synagogue holds a very special place in my family’s life over these last 20 years,” McCorquodale said.

“My wife, Ilana, and I have grown considerably over this time and enjoy active community lives. Our children, Lara and Romy, have progressed through Emanuel School, celebrating their being bat mitzvah in 2017 and 2019 and both recently experienced community-led study programs in Israel.

“In 2018, my own conversion provided a deep immersion in Jewish studies and a true sense of unification to my community belonging. I have got to know many of our members over recent years and enjoy the strong regard we hold for our synagogue. We have a great team of clergy and staff serving a wonderful community. I am very proud to call it ‘my community’. I sincerely look forward to supporting our synagogue’s progress.”

McCorquodale has also served as chair of the Emanuel School Foundation, chair of the Investment Committee and he chaired three Capital Appeals across the Emanuel community.
