Project to electrify 100 Jewish homes

The Jewish Climate Network (JCN) has launched a new initiative entitled “It’s Time: Smarter Energy. Trusted Support. Real Savings.” This project aims to support 100 Jewish families to remove gas appliances and switch to efficient, electric alternatives powered by renewable energy. In doing so, it hopes to reduce carbon emissions, cut energy bills and future-proof homes against rising energy costs.
Participants will receive expert support across every stage of their journey in switching to electric, from home energy assessments and appliance upgrades to tailored advice on solar, hot water systems, and heating/cooling solutions. This initiative will be delivered in partnership with Goodbye Gas, a social enterprise that specialises in helping Australian households electrify safely, simply and affordably.
The JCN is a network of Australian Jews that seek to accelerate the transition to a zero-emissions world. JCN CEO Joel Lazar said the campaign is designed to cut through confusion and accelerate action.
“Too many people in our community are still plagued by the who, what, why, when and how of electrification. This campaign will answer all of those questions. It will give our community the confidence to electrify with speed, reap the diverse benefits, and inspire others to follow suit.”
Momentum appears to be building across Australia to transition homes away from gas to clean, efficient electric systems. As of the end of 2023, over 3.6 million Australian households and businesses had installed rooftop solar systems and 135,000 had installed energy-efficient air source heat pumps.
