Quality care for women and children
Holistic and comprehensive patient-first medical care sounds like a wonderful idea in theory, but always seems difficult to locate across Melbourne's jam-packed medical industry. Enter The Emeline, a medical practice that offers personalised health and wellbeing solutions across the entire health landscape.
Dr Daniel Lichtblau is a general practitioner (GP) at The Emeline. He says, “We know that life can be busy and stressful for women and their kids, and we really want to provide a comfortable and safe space to deliver proactive care to families.”
Across all areas of medical care, but particularly for women and children, The Emeline medical centre is committed to this vision of top-quality healthcare, by offering a wide array of services all days of the week.
Doctors at the practice offer advice on a breadth of women’s health issues such as contraception, including family planning, insertion and removal of intra-uterine devices and implantable contraceptive devices, support through menopause, sexual health, managing painful, heavy or irregular periods, osteoporosis management, fracture prevention and metabolic health. They also provide catch up on any overdue monitoring, whether it’s cancer screening, cervical screening tests or recommended monitoring of chronic medical conditions.
“For women who have concerns about fertility, our doctors understand what a timely and sensitive topic this is,” says Dr Reshma Mohammed, an Emeline GP.
“We will support you on this journey and ensure you have access to the best care available. Sometimes it’s as simple as just good advice, and other times it can be more complicated, and we may need to send you on to a fertility specialist.”
To make it a more pleasant experience for children, The Emeline bestows comfortable seats, a children’s play area, consultation spaces that have been designed to feel as non-clinical as possible, and a team of friendly doctors with experience in children’s health, many of whom have young children themselves.
Experienced psychologists are on site during the week with a special focus on child and adolescent psychology services from Catalyst Psychology.
Dr Kirsty Hildebrandt and Ms Jenna Miller have experience with anxiety, depression, behavioural challenges, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, learning disorders, giftedness, academic attainment and intelligence. Special treatments for medical phobias such as needles, dental and medical procedures are additionally on offer.
“We often only think about preventative care when it comes to adults but in fact there is a wide range of physical, mental health and behavioural issues in children that are best addressed proactively to improve outcomes,” said Emeline GP Dr Katerina Michailidis.
“We all know how amazingly resilient children are as they enter the world and travel on the journey to adulthood, and are here to do everything we can to support their wellbeing so that they can grow up to be happy and healthy.”
