MUAY Thai fighter Dylan Resnekov has landed a world title bout against New Zealander Sefa Fue on March 20 at Sydney Olympic Park.
The 26-year-old will contest one of 12 bouts on the “Immortality Fight Night” card at the State Sports Centre, and the incumbent Maccabi NSW Sportsman of the Year is primed for the fight of his life.
“He’s defending his title and I want his title,” Resnekov told The AJN. “I’m not going to stop until I get it. It’s going to be a very interesting, entertaining fight.”
As the holder of a 2009 Australian title, now he gets the chance to go to another level.
A tough training schedule will help Resnekov strip down from 69 kilograms to his 64-kilogram fighting division, and he is relishing the challenge.
“It’s exciting, everyone wants a world title,” he said. “It’s one of those things you dream of as a kid, and when you get there, it’s an amazing feeling. But there’s still a lot of preparation ahead — so I don’t want to get too excited.”
When the fighter takes to the ring, he will eyeball an opponent with a record of 18 knockout wins from 20 fights.
“I’m going to run around until he gets tired —- then I’m going to hit him,” Resnekov quipped. “I’ve also got a 14 from 23 knockout ratio, he knows that as well. I’ve got a higher winning streak than he does. It’s going to be a really tough fight, an absolute war.”
Resnekov will be hoping for a bit more luck than he had in October last year, when he had to withdraw from a big fight on the day of the weigh-in, after suffering a complication to an infection, while also needing his gall bladder removed.
