Rosen nominated for Sydney Kings Ring of Honour

Maccabi Basketball NSW president and former Sydney Kings point guard Brad Rosen, as well as former Kings and Maccabi Lakers player Ben Knight – now a Maccabi NSW men’s basketball coach – have both been nominated for the Sydney Kings 2022 ‘Ring of Honour’.

It recognises players who have contributed, both on and off the court, to the Sydney Kings and to the broader community.

The Ring of Honour winners will be announced at the Kings’ last home game of the season, at Quodos Bank Arena on Sunday, April 24, with the game starting at 2:45pm.

Meanwhile, in the last round of the men’s City of Sydney Basketball Association season 1 on Monday night, the Maccabi Lakers needed a win to secure a spot for the Premier League finals, but fell 82-103 to second-placed Throwback Cheetahs Blue.

Jake Sharwood scored 29 points, and Marcel Ninio 27. The Lakers finished 5th out of 10 teams, posting 5 wins and 4 losses.

In Division 1, although they were both out of finals contention, the Maccabi Kings and Maccabi Rockets got to end season one by playing each other.

For most of the match, the Kings held a slender 5-point lead, but pulled away in the last quarter, with smart defending and relentless attack, to win by 42-30.

Beck Rosen top-scored for the Rockets with 13, and Brad Nissen scored 18 points for the Kings.

And in junior basketball, in the Easts competition, the U12 boys’ Maccabi Suns and Maccabi Raptors faced off last Sunday morning in the last regular round of the term 1 season.

The Suns came away 29-12 winners to secure third spot on the ladder.

It followed another U12 boys’ Maccabi derby in the previous round, which saw the Celtics edge the Lakers 19-13.

The U8 Maccabi Wolves completed their very first season, which was a great introduction to competition basketball, leaving them hungry for more.

And in U10s, the Maccabi Clippers got the better of the Maccabi Hawks to finish on top of the table, and qualify for this Sunday’s grand final.

Beyond the grand finals, the club will be hosting a junior school holiday basketball day camp, from April 19-21, at the Moore Park courts.
