Saying thank you
"This project embodies our values of gratitude and kindness, allowing us to show our support and appreciation in a deeply personal way," says Rabbi Rabin.
Rabbi Daniel Rabin is excited to share the launch of A Time to Say Thank You, an initiative he is bringing to Melbourne in collaboration with Dr Joel Symons, a Caulfield Shule member.
The initiative, originally launched by Rabbi Albert Chait at UHC Leeds, offers an opportunity for the community to come together in gratitude and support for first responders, emergency service workers and hospital staff.
Inspired by Rabbi Chait’s visit, with gift hampers and heartfelt thanks, on Christmas Day 2018 to local fire stations, police stations, and the maternity ward at St. James’ Hospital, the project has since expanded to various cities in the UK.
Rabbi Chait recognised that in a time when Jewish people in Europe were affected by the rise of antisemitism, Jewish people should be known for kindness, compassion, thanksgiving and welfare.
“Now, Caulfield Shule is honoured to join the program, giving the Melbourne Jewish community a chance to donate in a similar way,” said Rabbi Rabin.
“This project embodies our values of gratitude and kindness, allowing us to show our support and appreciation in a deeply personal way.
“It is a beautiful reminder of the shared humanity that binds us all.”
The community can purchase and, if they choose, personally deliver gift baskets on Christmas Day, helping say thank you to those who work tirelessly during the holiday period.
“We are hopeful this tradition of gratitude will become a cherished annual event here in Melbourne.”
Symons added, “As a member of Caulfield Shule, I’m proud to help launch this program here in Melbourne.
“It is incredibly rewarding to have an opportunity to acknowledge and thank the people who dedicate themselves to others, especially during a time that many spend with loved ones.”
Volunteers will meet at Caulfield Shule at 9.15am on December 25 and head to various locations to deliver baskets and spread good wishes.
