The Zionist Council of NSW (ZCNSW) recently hosted a special evening to welcome the arrival of a new Israeli mishlachat and bid a fond farewell to Michael Manhaim, the aliyah and HaTzofim shaliach, as he concluded his highly successful five-year shlichut.

Co-vice president of ZCNSW Orli Zahava warmly welcomed the attendees and extended blessings for a shana tova u’metukah. She also expressed the board’s deep appreciation for Manhaim’s dedicated service.

The new additions to the Sydney Jewish community, Hadar and Asaf Tzori – together with their daughters Yarden, Carmel, and Lotan – had just arrived from Modiin, Israel. Hadar has taken on the role of Netzer shlichah, while Asaf serves as both Habo and aliyah shaliach. Asaf enthusiastically shared his sentiments, saying, “We’re thrilled to join Sydney’s vibrant Jewish community. We’ve eagerly awaited this opportunity and look forward to working with everyone while enjoying Australia.”

Adding to the sense of excitement were Yael Shacham and Yiftach Kolodner, the new shinshinim (young Israeli volunteers) in Sydney. They made the inspiring choice to dedicate a year to volunteering before embarking on their military service in Israel.

Shacham and Kolodner said, “We came from Israel to do a year of volunteering before joining the army. We will be working with BJE, who, together with JAFI and HaTzofim, have made this possible. We are very excited to be here and to get to know each one of you, learn about the Sydney Jewish community, and share our Israeli story with you all.”

As the new mishlachat members settle into their roles, they bring fresh enthusiasm and a strong commitment to strengthening Zionism in NSW. Manhaim’s departure marks the end of a truly successful chapter, and his contributions will be remembered with gratitude.
