Sheezel “loving” Kangaroos training

HARRY Sheezel is settling in nicely at the North Melbourne Kangaroos in his first AFL pre-season.
In a recent video interview posted on the club’s website, the 18-year-old Mount Scopus College graduate and former AJAX Footy Club junior – who was snapped up by the Kangaroos as the third pick in the AFL Draft – said, “I’m just loving the full-time environment of being an AFL footballer.
“Now the training is ramping up into more match simulations, which I’m loving, and I’m learning more each day.
“At first, it was a bit of a wake-up [call], playing against the bigger bodies, and the games are much faster … [but] now … I’m feeling more comfortable, and getting used to the level.”

“It’s a lot [on] at the moment, but we have so many great coaches and mentors here.”
When asked who his key mentors are at present, Sheezel said forward Nick Larkey, whom he speaks to a lot about structures of play, and is “able to get a lot of good information off”, as well as midfielder Curtis Taylor.
On February 24, North Melbourne will play a match simulation against Richmond, and then a trial match on March 4 against the Western Bulldogs.
Sheezel said he hasn’t set specific goals for the practice games, but has an overall goal of playing AFL footy from as early as round one of the premiership season.
“I’m looking towards that, and that would be a great opportunity, if it is to happen,” he said.
