Harry Sheezel called it the ‘perfect debut’ and one of ‘the best days of his life’. His coach Alistair Clarkson labelled him a ‘very special talent’.

The 18-year-old prodigy celebrated becoming the 11th Jewish player to take a VFL/AFL field in style.

In front of 21,274 at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium, including Jewish North supporters and other community members who proudly displayed their Ajax Football Club jumpers and signs that read ‘Mazal Tov Harry’, Sheezel showed his class and composure in a near best on ground display.

He collected 34 disposals, the third most of any player on VFL/AFL debut, as North Melbourne (12. 15. 87) held on to a narrow five-point win against the West Coast Eagles (12. 10. 82).
