ON Wednesday, March 23, The Jewish Orthodox Feminist Alliance (JOFA) Australia is hosting an online Zoom event dedicated to showcasing global Torah-learning programs that are available to Australian women wanting to further their Torah knowledge.

Participants will hear from Dr Yardaena Osband (pictured), a medical doctor and one of the steering committee members of the the Susi Bradfield Women’s Institute of Halachic Leadership at Ohr Torah Stone in Israel that launched the International Halachah Scholars Program in October of last year.

The international program has already seen 26 women, including two Australians, enrol.

Dr Osband will be in conversation with those Australians, Melburnians Sarah Winthrope and Batya Maron.

JOFA Australia president Nomi Kaltmann told The AJN, “It is wonderful that global learning opportunities now exist that are available to Australian Jewish women wanting to further their Torah study without leaving the country.”

Kaltmann spoke of JOFA’s intentions to promote existing initiatives so that women are aware of these opportunities and take advantage of them, saying, “Australia has shown itself to be ready for greater women’s involvement in all Orthodox areas of life with many women seeking to participate in learning and teaching Torah.”
