ENTREPRENEUR Ruslan Kogan will soon be seeing stars, having this week been confirmed as one of Australia’s first-ever space tourists after paying the 10 per cent deposit on his $220,000 boarding pass.

The 27-year-old Melbourne business whiz-kid said he jumped at the opportunity to be a part of the groundbreaking event.

“I have always had an interest in technology and innovation. I love it when people are the first to do something or make a breakthrough,” he told The AJN by phone from California, after Virgin Galactic’s high-profile launch.

“To be one of the first [tourists in space] will be an unbelievable experience and something I am really looking forward to.”

When questioned about the six-figure price tag on the space flight, Kogan said he regards it as an investment in memories.

“It is a lot of money but different things excite different people. Some people like expensive watches, others sporting memorabilia. This is what makes me happy,” he said, adding, “It’s not a three-hour experience, it’s a lifetime of memories.”
