Sleepout success
ST KILDA shule’s Rabbi Yaakov Glasman has said he is “deeply heartened” by the support he and executive director David Marlow received from “the St Kilda Shule family and beyond” after they exceeded their fundraising target and raised $10,174 in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout last week.
“The fact that this was the first time a faith community was represented in the annual sleepout is something we as a Jewish community can all be proud of,” Rabbi Glasman said.
He added that “the funds we raised will go a long way in helping those most in need”.
Marlow told The AJN, “It was a cold, wet and miserable night but it is always very enlightening to hear from people who work in the area, as well as people who have until recently experienced the hardship of homelessness.
“Everyone deserves some level of privacy, safety and self respect that only a home provides.”
