Soldiers receive Aussie support
Australian school children created a banner of support for Israeli soldiers.
School children attending JEMS came together last week to support Israeli soldiers by creating a banner that was then sent to Israel.
After doing some extra davening, the children put their handprints and signed their names to personalise the banner.
“We explained to the children that we all need to do our part, which is through mitzvot and our love,” JEMS founder Rivky Shuchat told The AJN.
“They also wrote and drew beautiful cards, which went to Israeli soldiers and families with a small lolly to add some sweetness.”
Everyone who attended JEMS last week had the opportunity to give tzedakah, put on tefillin, light candles and say a prayer, which will be continued this week.
“The soldiers who received the banner were really proud and these things make a huge difference to them – a lot more than we think,” Shuchat said.
“It’s showing that people across the world are standing with them.”
