Solid shield opener for Maccabi Athletics
U16 boys' Maccabi shot put athlete Ian Revale in round one of the 2022/23 AVSL season.
The 2022/2023 summer Athletics Victoria Shield League began last weekend, with Maccabi Athletics Club members scoring significant points, resulting in the club leading the Division 5 ladder.
In her shield debut, Keira Donner, 14, ran strongly in her 800m and 200m races, and Danielle Axarlis (200m and triple jump) and Skye Edelstein also earned valuable points – the latter clocking an impressive 61.37 seconds in the U18 girls’ 400m.
U16 Maccabi athletes Ian Revale (pictured), who threw 11.77m in the 5kg shot put, and Ben Blecher (24.22 seconds in the 200m) were in fine form, as was nationally-ranked para athlete Ori Drabkin in the 200m and 800m races, and masters athlete Myer Vorchheimer in the 70+ men’s 200m and triple jump.
