Forbes 30 under 30 Asia

Start-up success story

'I was 22 when I founded my first business, and I never imagined where that business would end up today.'

JEWISH woman Talia Datt (pictured) has been named in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia 2022 list, having been recognised for how she has transformed the digital footprint of hundreds of brands, including several Fortune 500 companies.

“I’m so thrilled to have been included in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list with some of the most inspiring change-makers and innovators on the planet.

“I was 22 when I founded my first business, and I never imagined where that business would end up today,” the 26-year-old said.

In 2018, Datt left her corporate job to pursue a more creative path.

With a knack for social media, she founded her first business, a full-service social media and e-commerce marketing agency, The Social CliQ, out of her home office.

To get her earliest clients she would knock on doors, and offer to run their social media accounts for free, and within six months, she had signed Australia’s leading art supplier, Riot Art & Craft, as a client.

The young entrepreneur also founded The Content CliQ, after recognising that consumers were flocking to TikTok, where she connects brands to over 1000 creators.

Datt attributes much of her business savvy to many of her “family friends from shule and school”, who became her support system when she moved from South Africa to Australia with her family.

“I often looked to my parents’ friends for business advice and as a kid always wanted to sit at the adult table at Shabbat and listen their ‘business’ talk. Many of them are my mentors today and for that, I am eternally grateful,” she said.

She said she feels “very privileged” to have been brought up in the Jewish community, adding, “Within the community we all push our members to succeed. There is a general drive and work ethic around us that ultimately helps us question norms and strive to succeed.

“I really feel as though people within the Jewish community are so excited to watch people succeed, they are prepared to invest their time and energy into making it happen.”
