MOUNT Scopus Memorial College was the place to see the Victorian Government’s Science and Technology Education Leveraging Relevance (STELR) program in action.

STELR has been developed by the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering to promote the notion that physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics are highly relevant to their future lives.

Victorian Minister for the Environment, Climate Change and Innovation, Gavin Jennings, explained the program to a Year 10 science class before the students demonstrated the uses of solar energy.

STELR aims to increase the number of students choosing a career in science and engineering by improving the quality of science teaching and scientific literacy.

Southern Metropolitan region MLA Jennifer Huppert also attended the demonstration.
