'You're my hero'

Stiller meets Zelensky

Jewish actor and humanitarian Ben Stiller met with refugees and officials in Ukraine, including President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv.

Stiller gushed about Zelensky, saying “It’s a great honour for me. It’s really wonderful. You’re my hero.”

Stiller, a goodwill ambassador for the UN refugee agency, marvelled to Zelensky about how he rallied the country, even the world, adding, “You quit a great acting career for this.”

Zelensky laughed before saying, “not so great as you”.

Earlier in his trip, Stiller visited Ukrainian refugees in Poland, saying his aim was to stand in solidarity with the refugees to bring more attention to the humanitarian crises in Ukraine.

“People have shared stories about how the war has changed their lives – how they’ve lost everything and are deeply worried about their future,” Stiller said in a statement. “Protecting people forced to flee is a collective global responsibility. We have to remember this could happen to anyone, anywhere.”
