Success for Moriah and Emanuel

Dov Baron, Eli Briggs, Daniel Gordon, Erin Gordon and Gabby Stone represented AICES teams, and Joel Hasson and Josh Sacks represented North Coast.

Moriah College and Emanuel School students shone in the school representative sport scene in the last fortnight. In rugby, congratulations are in order for Moriah College’s 1st XV rugby squad, who competed at the AICES Rugby Cup for the first time late last month, finishing third overall.

They won two matches out of three, and put up a good battle in a loss to eventual tournament winners SEDA College.

Moriah’s Danny Sassoon was named in the shadow (on call) list for the AICES U18 representative squad.

Emanuel School’s 1st XV team also competed in the AICES Rugby Cup, which was held at T.G Millner Rugby Field in Eastwood.

They lost their first two matches, against strong Arndell College and Nowra Anglican College sides, but finished on a high note when defeating William Clark College 10-5, with Zack Gerber scoring two tries.

In secondary football, at the NSW Combined Independent Schools (CIS) Championships, seven Moriah College students participated.

Dov Baron, Eli Briggs, Daniel Gordon, Erin Gordon and Gabby Stone represented AICES teams, and Joel Hasson and Josh Sacks represented North Coast.

After the tournament, Erin Gordon and Baron were selected to represent NSW CIS at the upcoming NSW All Schools Football Championships

Special congratulations to Baron and Gordon, who have been selected to represent NSWCIS at the upcoming NSW All Schools Championships.

At the Netball NSW Primary School Cup, Emanuel School was represented by four teams.

And in table tennis, at the NSW Secondary Schools Championships, Emanuel School entered 10 of its best players in three age-based teams.

Intermediate team members Isaac Gorelik and Jake Newfield reached the quarter-finals, and juniors Julian Fisher and Arlo Broughton-Oschlack reached the final, without losing a set, and finished runners-up to North Sydney.
