Good things come in threes
The Maccabi NSW Lawn Bowls Guild’s annual open mixed triples tournament drew 60 players to Double Bay Bowling Club last Sunday, in perfect warm spring weather, a day of friendly yet competitive bowls, and a luncheon.
Winning teams in the 5 division played were: Jack Kampel, Iris Kampel and Paul Baker; Eric Wainstain, Goffredo Giacomini and Alan Sacks; Jeff Raines, Shoshana Werner and Stan Franks; Eric Grusd, Frankie Grusd and Len Smith; Arnold Green, Morris Sher and Gerry Ryman.
Meanwhile, congratulations to Maccabi and Double Bay Bowling Club members Bernard Fridman and Doug King, who have advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2022 NSW state men’s senior pairs competition.
SCHOOL REP FOOTBALL
Green great at nationals
Mazal tov to rising young footballer Aden Green, from Moriah College, who captained the NSW U16 boys’ All-Schools team to victory at last week’s 2022 Australian National Schools Football Championships at Valentine Sports Park.
He was also named his team’s Most Valuable Player for the tournament.
To top it off, Green gained selection into the 2022 Australian schoolboys football team.
NSW had four wins and a draw, finishing the tournament undefeated.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL
Maccabi heads north for spring series
Maccabi junior football has made a welcome return to Sydney’s upper north shore, entering four teams in a 5×5 spring series being played against other clubs at St Ives Village Green.
It’s up to round two now, and with the excitement and camaraderie generated already, Maccabi’s 27 participating young players can look forward to building their fitness, and friendships, further over the coming weeks.
